To My Dear Rotarian Friends,

Thank you for making this year as your President the happiest and most wonderful year of my fifteen years of Service Above Self.

I am truly sad to see that my year is over.  As many of you know, I have wanted to serve as President for many years.  Each President stands on the shoulders of those Presidents who came before.  We  build on the foundation placed straight and true by Sarah Lamothe, Jim Oliveira, Carole Johnson, Ron Melbourne, Tom Riley, Orren Robbins, Stu Lawrence and Mark Treadup amongst others.

You have touched the lives of people you will never meet.  You have fed the hungry, clothed children against the cold winds of Winter, inoculated babies and young children against the dreaded disease of Polo, sheltered families in Haiti and provided water filters so they have clean water, and you have brought the light of knowledge to those living in the dark.

How many mothers’ whispered thank you has never reached your ear? Please accept my heartfelt thank you in their stead.

I have had the honor to lead a Club that is full of leaders.

I will be forever grateful for the privilege of standing before you each week knowing I stood before the most wonderful group of Rotarians who embody the true spirit of Rotary.

God Bless you All and Thank You,

Bob Smith

Rotary Club of New Bedford President
